[ despite not being around for the argument, Lloyd was able to feel the heavy atmosphere permeating through the Wonderduck-- which in turn made him feel uneasy and wonder just what had happened. everyone seemed unusually avoidant, and it would have gotten om his nerves if it wasn't so damn concerning.
thankfully he doesn't have to think about it much when he opens the door, only mildly surprised to see that it's Kaneis behind it. whatever surprise there was is quickly wiped off in favor of a smile. ]
Nah, come on in. Make yourself comfortable. [ he steps aside, allowing Kaneis room to enter his quarters. he almost asks him if anything happened, but he stops himself-- if Kaneis wants to share, then he'll let him share at his own pace. ]
[He gives a little nod as he comes in. Lloyd room looks...well, like his. Small, cramp - just less books lying around. He internally debates if he should sit on the bed or just stand ....until he realizes standing in a corner might be really creepy looking. So he moves to sit on the corner of the bed.]
...Thanks.
Just...kinda felt like being somewhere where I don't have to worry about someone shimmering in.
[That and being around this Lloyd tended to make him feel better. Much better than he'd feel if he was left alone with his own cycling thoughts. Either way, the mention of shimmering was definitely an opening]
[ shimmering in. something definitely happened, and it had to have happened between Kaneis and either Cole or Chris. last he checked, they were all hunky-dory despite their "species" being polar opposites (not that Lloyd ever considered that a factor). only something bad would have Kaneis want to keep his distance. ]
No problem, man. You know my door's always open.
[ after Kaneis sits down, Lloyd will be following him, sitting a little less than a foot away from him. if anytime's a good time to ask, it's now. ]
[ he listens. at first, Cole's request sounded innocent enough, even if the "precaution" bit would have raised some eyebrows. but after hearing the second part, what Chris told him... ]
A potion that...
[ oh no. he doesn't want to jump to conclusions, but he's getting a bad feeling about this. ]
Yep. And he sure was convinced that was the only way. So much that he threw a little hissy fit when Chris came up with an alternative within a minute. He's pretty pissed at me too, but I'm kinda hard pressed to care about that.
Unsurprisingly, Chris was pretty upset about all this.
[ Lloyd doesn't say anything, but with how pissed he is right now, he's pretty sure Kaneis can hear his teeth grinding. how could Cole think this way? how could he think that it's okay to just throw your life away for the sake of protecting others, even after his own son (his own son...!) came up with an alternative?
this is... this is just like... ]
But why?! If Chris came up with something better, why the hell does he think throwing his life away like that is a better idea?! That's just stupid! [ he's aware that Kaneis probably doesn't have an answer to that; his rage-fueled questions are more rhetorical than anything. ]
I don't know. He started going on about how crappy his life and his ex was, like apparently that made it all okay or whatever. I had the video on, so I'm pretty sure it's on there if you wanna see all this crap.
[It pissed him off. He hated people who hurt others but played themselves as the victim. Or ones that can't admit that they screwed up]
[ he's quiet as Kaneis recounts what happened, though he's tense everywhere to the point of his hands shaking. so it sounded like he was trying to find an escape, just like him. dammit, he's not sure what to be mad at more.
he does his best to quell that anger though, rather than direct it at Kaneis. he should thank the messenger, not shoot them. ]
I'll... I'll check it out later. [ maybe. probably when there isn't steam coming out of his ears. as much as he'd love to give Cole an earful (and he will, mark his word), there is one person at the forefront of all this-- someone he can feel empathy for. ]
He's...upset? He threw some magic around the cargo bay after Cole left, then eventually left himself.
Tried to...I dunno, make him feel better - or at least, you know, tell him it's okay to be upset and everything. But you know, comfort's not exactly my forte so I don't know how well it worked.
[ ah. he might have to go and make sure whatever Chris threw magic at wasn't too damaged, but he didn't blame him for doing that. no doubt Lloyd would have wanted to do that too. ]
I'm sure he appreciated it. It's fine if you were thinking about him to ask how he's doing. [ he is definitely adding Chris to the list of people he needs to talk with as well, though.
[Yes good talk to the guy, Lloyd. Kaneis is way too inept to handle other people's parental issues beyond just getting mad on their behalf.]
Me?
[He almost says "what about me?"- an old deflection. But he swallows it. Considering he came to stew in Lloyd's room- he can't really pretend he's all okay]
...I'm pissed at the guy. Just when I was getting used to him, he goes and pulls something like this.

Did something happen...?

You...could say that. Cole asked me to get some ingredients. Just said it was for a "precaution", nothing else.
Well, according to Chris, the ingredients were for a potion that kills demons.

[ oh no. he doesn't want to jump to conclusions, but he's getting a bad feeling about this. ]
